Hills are expecting the Ryder Cup to be the biggest golf betting event ever - perhaps outstripping even the Open Championship.

'The Ryder Cup undoubtedly takes golf out of the sports pages and on to the news pages like no other golf tournament, and even non-golfers have an opinion about it and like to have a flutter on it' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.'We are predicting a betting turnover of up to £20 million which will rival even the Open.'

Following the announcement of his squad for the Ryder Cup, Nick Faldo's Europe have been installed as 5/6 favourites to win the event by William Hill who offer USA at 6/5 and the tie at 9/1.

Hills, who offer 7/2 about a hole in one being scored during the event, offer 7/1 that Europe will win by the narrowest margin of 14.5 - 13.5  - and 8/1 that USA will do likewise.
