Once again Tiger has proved himself a cut above the rest by winning the second Major of the year despite obvious discomfort from recent surgery.
William Hill, like all bookmakers, made significant losses and the pain does not stop there with Hills already facing a payout of over £200,000 if Woods wins the final two Majors of the year, for which he is offered at 11/2. Tiger is the 13/8 favourite to win the Open Championship which starts in a month's time and he is all but certain to become the most successful golfer in Major history with Hills offering 1/16 that he wins more Majors than Jack Nichlaus.
"Every time we think we have the measure of Tiger he does something extraordinary and we would be very relieved if he decided to take the rest of the year off," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
