Celtic Manor Resort (Wentworth Hills Course) Course Guide and betting tips

Ross Aylward - 14 Jan 2008

Wentworth Hills Course, Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, Wales
Course Par Value: 72
Course Yardage: 7,355

This is a long and physically demanding course designed by Robert Trent Jones. Players are required to play many of their shots on downhill or uphill lies. Water is in play on eight holes as the course winds around the River Usk. The four par-5’s are the 2nd (613 yards), 5th, 11th (612 yards) and 18th, which provides a rare birdie opportunity. The large greens have subtle breaks and demand skilled putting.

The Celtic Manor Resort has been ‘home’ to the Wales Open since 2000, with all bar two events played on the Wentworth Hills Course. The course is the venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup.

GolfBettingpro Notes: Past results at Celtic Manor show that course experience is an important factor when assessing a player’s chances to win.
