Gleneagles, Scotland
Course Par Value: 73
Course Yardage: 7,260
This Jack Nicklaus-designed course is situated at the foot of the Scottish Highlands. It is a very exposed track with weather conditions (a combination of wind, rain and mist) playing a large part in scoring. The fairways are generous, leading to large, undulating bentgrass greens. There are five par-5’s - the 2nd, 9th, 12th, 16th and the 18th - all of which offer birdie / eagle chances, depending on conditions. The four par-3’s are particularly tough and par is a good score on them.
The course is host to the Johnnie Walker Championship, which is now played in late August / early September.
Golf Bettingpro Notes: With the weather a big factor here, an early morning start in round 1 can be a huge advantage - check the forecast! With five-5‘s, long-hitters do well here, although short hitters can still win if the rest of their game is in great nick. Not a course to play catch-up on by any means.
