Valderrama Golf Course Betting tips

Valderrama, Sotogrande, Spain
Course Par Value: 71
Course Yardage: 6,952

A tough, tree-lined course, which demands accuracy (rather than power) off the tee, and sound positional play from the undulating fairways. The bentgrass greens are large, undulating and quick. The par-5’s are the easy 4th, 11th, and the signature 17th - a real risk-reward hole where the second shot can spin back into the water or go through into a bunker at the back. The final par-4 hole is particularly tough -averaged 4.15 in 2006!

Valderrama is home to the lucrative season-ending Volvo Masters, which is restricted to the top 60 on the Order of Merit. With no halfway cut, everyone is guaranteed a nice cheque.

GolfBettingpro Notes: Course experience on this demanding track is very important - 2006 winner Jeev Milka Singh was making his debut, but he’s an exception to the rule. Not so much of a ‘catch-up’ course, but players can still come from off the pace to win as a result of the leaders getting the worst of the weather, as well as the spiked greens, causing them to be overtaken by those taking advantage of the kinder earlier conditions.
