Luke Donald has given himself a great chance of becoming World Number One after reaching the semi-finals of the Volvo World Match Play Championship.
Donald will face Martin Kaymer on Sunday in the semi-finals and will then face the winner of Ian Poulter versus Nicolas Colsaerts to keep his dream alive.
With Lee Westwood losing to Ian Poulter either Donald or Kaymer will take over at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking if they lift the title at Finca Cortesin in Spain.
Donald booked his place in the final four with a Last 16 triumph over Johan Edfors before seeing off Charl Schwartzel in the quarter-finals, while Kaymer was also in fine form with wins over Soren Kjeldsen and Alvaros Quiros.
Poulter pulled off a major shock with victory over current World Number One Westwood before sealing his place in the semi-finals with a 2 hole win over Francesco Molinari, while his Belgium opponent beat Jhonattan Vegas by a hole and Greame McDowell 2&1 to advance.
