West Course, Wentworth, Surrey, England
Course Par Value: 72
Course Yardage: 7,308
The course underwent several major changes in 2006 under the consultancy of Ernie Els, who has a house on the course. However, the unusual 35/37 layout remains, and the two closing par-5’s are still reachable in two - the other par-5’s are the 4th and 12th. A old-fashioned course that cannot be overpowered by the long hitters. Its main defence being the swirling wind which can prove very deceptive.
Host to the European Tour’s flagship tournament, the BMW Championship, since 1984. In October, it also stages the HSBC World Matchplay Championship.
Bettingpro Notes: To play well here, players must be able to handle the swirling wind - each player receives a wind map as well as a yardage guide! However, there is no substitute for previous course experience.
