Blue Square's got Six Appeal for the Open

James Cameron - 14 Jul 2008

Blue Square have announced that they will be paying out on six places in their ante-post book on the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale which tees-off this Thursday. The Paddington-based firm will also be paying out each-way on the first five home right up until the end of play on Thursday instead of the usual four.

‘The enforced absence of Tiger Woods means that this competition is now wide-open and there is now no excuse not to offer six places to punters,’ said Blue Square spokesman George Primarolo.

‘Sergio Garcia has been backed down to as short as 9/1 in recent days but the carrot of the sixth place could well encourage punters to look at a couple of bigger priced players such as European Open winner Ross Fisher or Boo Weekly, who did so well at Carnoustie last year.’

 The Open Championship -  Blue Square bet: 9 S Garcia, 14 E Els, 16 P Mickelson, P Harrington, L Westwood, 25 J Rose, J Furyk, A Scott, 28 R Karlsson, V Singh, G Ogilvy, 33 G McDowell, S Cink, A Romero, MA Jimenez, R Goosen, 40 T Immelman, H Mahan, 25 A Kim, R Allenby, 50 J Leonard, M Kaymer, R Fisher, A Cabrera, H Stenson, 66 S Stricker, S Appleby, I Poulter, P Casey, T Clark, R Pampling, 80 bar.
