Tiger Woods out for Season, Ladbrokes refunds bets

James Cameron - 19 Jun 2008

Ladbrokes are to refund all stakes on Tiger Woods winning this year's Open and the USPGA Championship following the news he will miss the rest of the season after knee surgery.

The world number one was 6/4 to win at Royal Birkdale after his gruelling 91 hole victory at Torrey Pines in the US Open.

But in a move which is set to cost the Harrow-based firm over £100,000, they will now return all the antepost money placed on him for both tournaments as well as their special market on how many Majors he'll win this season.

Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "This is the biggest money back offer in our history and is great news for punters.

"It's probably also great news for those who've backed the USA to win the Ryder Cup too as he's more of a hindrance than a help when it comes to the team game."
