The last player to win four consecutive majors was Tiger Woods, and Padraig Harrington can take one step closer to the achieving the so called ‘Paddy Slam’ at the US Masters in Augusta this week.

The popular Dubliner won the final two majors last season (USPGA & British Open) and is rated an 18-1 chance by William Hill to record a hat-trick of Golf majors. The bookmakers are also offering odds of 150-1 on Harrington completing the ‘Paddy Slam’ – i.e. winning the next two majors (US Masters & US Open).

Masters rookie Rory McIlroy has also been popular with punters from Northern Ireland and the Republic. The Holywood native is regarded as the hottest prospect in World golf and punters believe that the nineteen year old can become the first debutant since Fuzzy Zoeller, who won the Masters in 1979, to win at Augusta.  McIlroy is rated a 33-1 chance to win this weekend’s major.

Unsurprisingly, Tiger Woods is the one that bookmakers from all over the globe fear. The four time Masters Champ’ has been something of a ‘cash cow’ for golf punters in recent years – with punters backing Woods to win every tournament he enters. The result is normally a huge payout for the bookies and it’s no surprise that betting companies from all over the World are praying that Tiger doesn’t add another green jacket to his already full closet.  Woods is 12-5 for this year’s Masters.
