Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open Tips

Ross Aylward - 24 Feb 2009

The European Tour stops off in Bali for the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open which is being played at New Kuta Golf Club.

The Course: New Kuta Golf Club, Bali, Indonesia (par-72, 7,328 yards)
A brand new course which is perched on the cliffs overlooking spectacular views of the Indian Ocean with lengthy, undulating fairways and a couple of holes that play alongside the shoreline. One of the designers has described it as "quasi-links", while some have likened it to the Plantation Course at Kapalua. There are four par-5's, the 2nd, 9th, 16th and 18th, which is a monster at 612 yards.

Ross’ Top Tip: Felipe Aguilar @ 33/1 Ladbrokes
Became the first Chilean player to capture a European Tour title when winning this event last year, and arrives here in great form having finished second to shock winner Danny Lee in last week's Johnnie Walker Classic. Considering his positive mental associations surrounding this event, there's no reason why he shouldn't go well again.

Next Best: Adam Blyth @ 50/1 bet365
Hardly a household name, but he might be after this week - well, in his native Australia at least. He might have won the Malaysian Open a couple of weeks back but for a last round wobble and showed no signs of disappointment when seventh in the Johnnie Walker against much much better opposition than he faces this week.

Outsider: Daniel Chopra @ 70/1 Totesport
As a past winner of the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua, this course should be right up his street and, considering he played a lot of his early golf in this part of the world, he won't be as disadvantaged as some of the other foreign players. Yes, his form has been patchy of late but he's apparently been suffering from a virus which has now cleared up, so the signs are good.

Ross’ Match Bet: Felipe Aguilar to beat Anthony Wall @ 10/11 Boylesports

Tournament Lay:
Bookmakers are going 20/1 'the field' this week so there's no-one I'd care to lay, although I wouldn't be rushing to back either Johan Edfors and Brett Rumford, who both disappointed me last week.

Recommended Bets:
Felipe Aguilar 1pt each way @ 33/1 Ladbrokes
Adam Blyth 1pt each way @ 50/1 bet365
Daniel Chopra 1pt each way @ 70/1 Totesport
