FedEx St. Jude Classic preview

The PGA Tour’s final stop on the road to the US Open is the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Getting underway on Thursday, this tournament features just one player from the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings as the rest of the sport’s elite take a weekend off before facing the mammoth Congressional Country Club course next week.

Lee Westwood, who recently lost top spot to fellow Englishman Luke Donald, is the best name taking part here and it is no surprise that the 38-year-old defending champion is the 15/2 favourite with Victor Chandler and Blue Square to retain his crown and seal his first PGA Tour victory of 2011.

And Betfred are also confident of a Westwood victory – so confident they have launched a special promotion for this tournament. The firm will refund all losing singles on the outright market if your player finishes second to the Englishman at TPC at Southwind.

Blue Square are offering odds of 12/1 on American David Toms recording his second victory in less than a month, with the 44-year-old having won the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in May, while Brian Gay’s good record at this course makes him a worthy candidate at 22/1 with SportingBet.

Another American, Zach Johnson, can be backed at 16/1 with Blue Square, while popular Spaniard Sergio Garcia is 25/1 with bet365.

Victor Chandler are continuing their “Hole-in-Won!” special for this tournament. All you need to do is have a bet on a player to win this event outright – win or each-way – and if your selection loses but has a hole-in-one during the tournament, Victor Chandler will pay you out as a winner.

Eighteen players have registered hole-in-ones so far this season, six of which are competing here. They are Nick O’Hern 125/1, Cameron Tringale 200/1, Jarrod Lyle 250/1, Sung-Hoon Kang 250/1, Scott Stallings 250/1 and Daniel Summerhays 500/1.
