The globe-trotting Johnnie Walker Classic touches down in Australia this week with a host of star players teeing up at The Vines Resort & Country Club

The course was last used for this event in 2006 event and for the Heineken Classic for 11 straight years up to 2001. The many doglegs place a premium on accuracy rather than power off the tee, although the rough is not penal. The Bentgrass greens are very large with many levels and slopes so it's vital to put the ball in the 'right' part. There are four par-5's, the 3rd, 6th, 10th and the risk-reward 18th with a lake in front of the green. The 'Fremantle Doctor' wind can be a big factor in the afternoons.

The American went off a cramped 7/1 favourite for last week's Malaysian Open but his backers soon knew their fate after his opening 78. To his credit, though, he bounced back with a 65 to make the cut and said afterwards that he was hitting the ball as well as ever from tee to green, which is ominous for his rivals this week. At 10/1, he's worth a win only interest.

The Swede has been threatening to get back into the winner's enclosure for a while now - five top-20 finishes in his last seven starts - and he should prosper on this week's track which is tailor-made for his accurate iron play. With the likes of Kim and Camilo Villegas taking a large chunk out of the market, he's an eye-catching 35/1 with bet365.

Outsider: Brett Rumford @ 50/1 Coral
We can expect a few of the home contingent to figure this week and the Perth native boasts a couple of top-20's on this track in the Heineken Classic and he's started 2009 in solid form with tied-20th and tied-16th finishes in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. In front of his home fans, I expect him to put up a big display this week and the 50/1 is a shade generous.
