Luke Donald will attempt to put his Wentworth 71st-hole misery behind him when he tees off as 13/1 favourite with Skybet for this week's Madrid Masters at Club de Campo.
The Englishman, who carded a calamitous double-bogey seven at the 17th on Sunday to blow his PGA Championship chance, is joined by several Ryder Cup hopefuls, including Martin Kaymer, Sergio Garcia, Alvaro Quiros and the Molinari brothers, Francesco and Edoardo.
The course, last used for the 2007 Madrid Open won by Mads Vibe-Hastrup, is not overly long at just under 7,200 yards and is expected to suit accurate drivers rather than those that bomb it 300 yards+ off the tee.
Ross' Three Off The Tee:
James Morrison @ 80/1 Paddy Power
No, not the singer, but his backers might well be singing if they take the 80s. That's the sort of price you'd expect for a player perhaps struggling for form, but that's not the case with the rookie who has taken the Tour by storm in recent weeks with a win (Madeira Islands Open), a second (Seville Open) and two other top-six finishes. Granted, he missed the cut at Wentworth but showed his game was still in great nick by winning Monday's US Open qualifying competition (shot 68-65 to lead the field home by two shots) and will no doubt have a spring in his step as a result.
Fredrik Andersson Head @ 40/1 Boylesports
It took the Swede 245 attempts to break his finally break his Tour duck at the Italian Open earlier this month, but that might well prove to be a turning point in his career and there was a lot to like about his play last week at Wentworth. When everyone else was doing their best to throw the tournament away, Andersson Hed was keeping his head (sorry) on his way to a final round of 67, which moved him up into a tie for second. Considering he was 14th here in 2007, it's reasonable to assume he will again be in the mix this week and 10/1 a place has a nice ring to it.
Ross McGowan @ 70/1 Blue Square
If someone had offered me 70/1 on McGowan successfully defending his Madrid Masters title straight after he demolished a decent field - albeit on a different course - back in October, I would have snapped their hand off. Golf's a funny game, though, and the Irishman has failed to reach the same dizzy heights since, with a tie for eighth at the China Open his best effort of the season so far. However, he's not drastically out of form judging by his final round of 68 at Wentworth and at the odds, has to be worth an each-way interest.
Bubbling Under: Richie Ramsay (100/1 bet365)
Already a winner on Tour this season and while that came in South Africa before Christmas, he's been playing well enough of late (form figures of 37-13-28 coming into this week) to suggest he can outrun his odds.
Punters Beware: Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer and Sergio Garcia
The first three in the betting are opposable for a variety of reasons: Donald has not won on any Tour for four years now and after throwing away a golden opportunity to end that run on Sunday, has to be considered a bottler, Kaymer has only recently had some pins removed from his foot following on from last year's go-karting accident and is unlikely to be fully fit, while Garcia seems to struggle every time he plays, even on home soil.
