Third Round News
Martin Kaymer will begin his final Open Championship round five shots behind leader Darren Clarke following a three-over par 73 on Saturday that saw him slip to par through 54 holes.

Martin Kaymer is just one shot off the Open Championship lead after following up his opening-round 68 with a second-round 69 at Royal St George's.

World number three Martin Kaymer made three birdies and one bogey in a two-under-par 68 that put him three shots behind the leaders.

World number three Martin Kaymer is in his sixth year as a professional golfer. The 26-year-old German has won nine European Tour titles during that time and was crowned the European Tour Race to Dubai winner in 2010. A 2007 Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year and 2010 European Tour Golfer of the Year, he was also part of the successful European Tour Ryder Cup team in 2010.

Kaymer has one Major title to his name following his victory at the 2010 PGA Championship, where he beat Bubba Watson in a three-hole play-off. That victory made him only the second player from Germany to win a Major, following in the footsteps of Bernhard Langer.

Like Langer, Kaymer has also had a spell as world number one having spent several weeks at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings this year.
