He'll get plenty of encouragement from the galleries this week and there are worse 125/1 shots than him.
The Course: Barsebäck G & CC, Malmö, Sweden (par-73, 7,665 yards)
Since 2006, the course has undergone many changes and players could be excused for thinking this is an entirely different track to the one they played on two years ago. There are new and reconstructed greens plus numerous new bunkers, but the real change is to the length which is now a whopping 7,665 yards, making it easily the longest on Tour. Clearly, this is a long-hitter's paradise. The four par-5's are the 5th, 9th, 12th and 16th.
Ross' Top Tip: Thomas Aiken @ 33/1 Blue Square
The big-hitting South African is having his first look at Barsebäck, but the course changes mean this is in effect a new course, so don't let that put you off. Concentrate instead on his 2009 form, which has seen him post seven top-10 finishes including a tied-8th place at last week's Open. He's a sure-fire future winner in my book and, with many big names having the week off (and those that aren't possibly in need of a rest), it could well come this week.
Next Best: Pelle Edberg @ 125/1 bet365
The Swede gives it an almighty whack off the tee - ranked fifth in driving distance on Tour - so this week's test will be right up his street, and he will have positive mental associations with this event having finished runner-up last year. Granted, he's missed his last two cuts, but he did string four good rounds together when tied-21st at the recent BMW International Open, so he's not without hope at massive odds.
Outsider: Christian Nilsson @ 125/1 Stan James
Like his fellow Swede Edberg, Nilsson is pretty powerful off the tee (ranked 23rd) so he'll be well suited to the course changes and (unlike Edberg) he's already a winner on Tour, his maiden victory coming at last month's St Omer Open. Admittedly, that was a pretty weak event but he'll get plenty of encouragement from the galleries this week and there are plenty of worse 125/1 shots than him.
Tournament Lay (Betfair): The front three in the market
Tournament favourite Henrik Stenson could easily outclass this field. However, outside the majors, his form since winning the Players has been so-so and bookmakers aren't exactly giving him away at 7/1. Soren Kjeldsen and Peter Hanson (who is defending this week) must have excellent claims too, but they've both seen plenty of action of late and could be ready for a break.
