Ross' Three Off The Tee:-
Tim Clark @ 35/1 Boylesports
Accuracy off the tee here is paramount here and not many hit it straighter than the South African. That's yet to translate into a win on Tour but he's now finished runner-up seven times and the new club groove laws - which will make it harder for players to control their approach shots form the rough, thus rewarding accuracy - give him a great chance of losing his nearly-man tag. If he plays like he did over the weekend last year (68-64), it could well come this week.
Brian Gay @ 35/1 bet365
Similarly, Gay has the game to thrive here and is another who will benefit from the new rules. Both his wins last season came on shortish tracks like this one - Hilton Head (by an incredible 10 shots!) and TPC Southwind - and last week's outing at Kapalua (18th of 28, but a respectable six under at the weekend) will have cleared away any cobwebs. Fifth here last year, he's fancied to at least make the frame again.
Jerry Kelly @ 66/1 Paddy Power
Finished poorly last week with a couple of 74's, but he can always be counted to perform well at Waialae, having won once (2002) and finished in the each-way payout places a further three times in his last seven starts. Used to have a reputation as a bottler but he won on Tour in 2009 and partnered his friend Steve Stricker to success in the Shark Shootout at the end of last year, so another good year beckons.
Bubbling Under: George McNeil (66/1 Victor Chandler)
Beaten in two playoffs in the 2009 Fall Series and has a good record here with three top-20s in as many starts (tied 7th last year).
Punters Beware: Any player 25/1 or under
This is so competitive, I'd be loathe to take anything less.
