Yani Tseng is the bookmakers’ favourite to get the better of an all-star line-up to win this week’s Sybase Match Play Championship.
Nine of the world’s top-10 players have descended on Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey, with the top-32 players in a 62-strong field seeded ahead of a blind draw.
World number one Tseng, who begins her campaign against Marcy Hart in Kathy Whitworth Division, is seeded fourth but that has not stopped
bet365 making her their 15/2 favourite to lift the trophy this weekend.
Jiyai Shin, ranked second in the world, is 10/1 ahead of her Mickey Wright Division meeting with Meena Lee, while world number three Suzann Pettersen and 10th-ranked Michelle Wie are 12/1. Pettersen meets Natalie Gulbis in the first round, while Wie tackles Beatriz Recari.
Of the rest of the top-10, world number four Cristie Kerr and fifth-ranked Na Yeon Choi are both 16/1, with world number six IK Kim 18/1 along with number eight Karrie Webb. And world number seven Ai Miyazoto is 35/1, with ninth-ranked Sun Ju Ahn the only absentee from the Rolex Ranking’s top-10.
Defending champion Sun Young Yoo, who beat Angela Stanford last year, is 28/1 to retain her crown.
