The Wyndham Championship, at Sedgefield, Carolina, is the finale of the PGA Tour's regular season and represents the last chance for those players outside the top-125 in FedExCup points to make it into the Playoffs.
The tight, tree-lined Sedgefield track is being used for the third time and on the evidence of the last two years, driving accuracy is the priority this week. The other key to success this week will be putting on the smaller than average greens and it's no coincidence that 10 of the top 11 on last year's final leaderboard were ranked inside the top-20 for putts per round.
With the big names taking time out to recover from last week's PGA Championship, the field has a feeble look to it with Ryan Moore and Carl Petterson - Stan James' 20/1 joint favourites - heading the market.
My Three Off The Tee:-
Michael Sim @ 55/1 William Hill
This event won't take much winning and the Aussie is fancied to break through and record his first Tour win. He's already won three times on the Nationwide Tour in 2009 and has twice gone close on the main Tour in 2010, including when tied-3rd at Turning Stone two starts back. He led the field in putting that week and ranks 21st overall, which are encouraging stats for this week.
Fred Couples @ 50/1 Skybet
Couples would have been amongst the favourites for The Tradition, this week's fourth Major of the Champions Tour campaign, so it's interesting he's opted to play Sedgefield instead. Touted in some quarters as a serious candidate for a Ryder Cup wild card, he will be out to prove a point this week and we know he likes the track as he finished tied-5th here last year.
Scott McCarron @ 70/1 Stan James
Finished runner-up here in 2008 and tied-17th last year, making just seven bogeys (nothing worse) over the course of those 144 holes. He also comes into this week in great form having shot a Tour-leading 12 consecutive rounds of par or better, which includes a tied-16th at Turning Stone.
Bubbling Under: Garrett Willis (55/1 bet365)
Can boast five top-16 finishes in his last eight starts, including tied-4th at the St Jude Classic, and also finished tied-15th here in 2008.
Punters Beware: Anthony Kim
Kim needs to show something this week to merit a Ryder Cup wild card but after two moderate efforts since returning from thumb surgery, he's best left alone.
