Spaniard Cabrera-Bello (14/1 Tournament Winner) shot seven birdies over his opening nine holes before eventually finishing nine-under for the day, and that superb score put him two ahead of Germany’s Marcel Siem (33/1) and Scotland’s Scott Jamieson (40/1).
World number two McIlroy (9/4 favourite) is firmly in contention after reeling off seven birdies over his final 10 holes to end the day six-under alongside Gregory Bourdy (50/1), Nicolas Colsaerts (14/1), Thomas Bjorn (10/1), Richard Sterne (40/1), Romain Wattel (40/1) and Martin Kaymer (9/2).
Englishman Ross Fisher (33/1) enjoyed a bogey-free day to head into the second round on five-under, and he is joined by Jeev Milkha Singh (66/1), Oscar Floren (80/1) and Peter Lawrie (66/1).
Former world number one Lee Westwood (14/1) began his challenge with a three-under round that consisted of four birdies and one bogey while Branden Grace (100/1), already a two-time winner on the 2012 European Tour, is two shots back on one-under.
