Following his runaway US PGA Championship win, Rory McIlroy is 250-1 with Coral to win all four Majors next year.
The Northern Irishman broke Jack Nicklaus’ 42-year record for a winning margin by finishing eight shots clear of the field on Sunday, and he is now back on top of the golf rankings with his sights set on more Major glory in 2013.
McIlroy said afterwards: “I don't care if I win by one or by eight, I just want to win, but it's nice to break a record like that, especially of Jack Nicklaus.
“He's the most successful player of all time so far. It's a nice achievement.”
Coral bookmakers now offer 250-1 that McIlroy completes a clean sweep of Major titles next year while, more realistically, the Holywood ace is 2-1 to win one of the four in 2013 (4-11 not to).
Coral's David Stevens told Golfbettingpro: “The Grand Slam may be beyond Rory McIlroy, but having won his second Major at a younger age than Tiger Woods achieved the feat, the Northern Irishman could be the man to beat in the big tournaments for years to come.”
McIlroy, winner of the US Open 14 months ago, is now 16-1 to surpass Jack Nicklaus' career record of 18 Major wins.
