Graeme McDowell on a dismal final-round 79 that ended his challenge: “I didn't even swing it my best this morning, but I hung tough. This afternoon I make a bomb on five to really get going. I stand up on six and make a negative swing and hit it in the right trees there. I stand up on seven and react to the right shot and hit it left to the water.
“At that point I just felt the life drain right out of me. My energy levels from eight to a 10 or two to a 10. I'm chasing it on nine to make bogey there. So it's just one of those days. Everything I tried just went wrong. I just made a few sour-looking swings.
“(But I have) a lot of positives to take away. I said I was going to take the positives away whatever happened this weekend. I said I was going to stick to my guns. It's going to hurt for a few hours, but it was a tough task today with the course and the wind. It was tricky, and I just didn't have it.”
Luke Donald after a one-under-par 71 that left him in a share of fourth place: “It was a steady round. I got what I deserved at the end. I hit a poor wedge on 17, hit it thin, and (then I hit an) even worse shot on 18. That was one of the worst shots I've ever hit.
“It would have been nice to make that putt and be a 10. But this is a course where you can make birdies and you can make bogies.”
Sergio Garcia after a seven-under 65, his best round at this year’s tournament: “I definitely think today was a nice round. But I don't know. It's been like that for the past three months or so. I've been saying that I'm feeling better. I'm definitely hitting the ball better. Unfortunately, nothing's been happening on the weekend. I've had some rounds where I played really well and I shot two-under and I'm moving back.
“But today finally things seemed to happen a little bit. I played nicely, I hit some good shots and rolled some good putts in. I was just a little bit unfortunate to bogey eight and not be able to birdie nine. Other than that, it was a nice, positive way to finish a tournament.”
Paul Goydos following a final-round 69 that handed him third place: “I'm actually quite pleased with the way I played today. Quite frankly, it's a tough course. I got off to a little bit of a low start, but I think (over) the last 12 holes I hit every fairway and missed one green.”
