Doral Golf Resort and Spa (Blue Course) Golf Course Guide & Betting Tips

Ross Aylward - 15 Jan 2008

Doral Golf Resort and Spa (Blue Course), Miami, FL
Course Par Value: 72
Course Yardage: 7,266

Known as the “Blue Monster” because water is in play on 12 holes. There are also over one hundred bunkers, so this is not a course for the faint-hearted. The infamous 18th hole is one of the most difficult finishing holes on the Tour. The drive, normally into the wind, is tough enough, but anything right leads to a terrifying second shot to a long, narrow green whose entire left side is bordered by water. In 2007, Tiger ‘played safe’ and layed-up, knowing that par would be good enough for victory. The Bermuda grass greens are large and characteristically grainy.

The course was home to the well-established ‘Ford  Championship’ (played in early March), but in 2007 played host to the World Golf Championships-CA Championship, one of three World Golf Championships events. The field was limited to the top-50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking and invites, around 60-65 players in total.

Golf Betting Pro Notes: Florida-based players had a dominant record in the ‘Ford Championship’, so there’s every reason to expect they will continue to do well in this new event.
