La Cantera Golf Club Course Guide and Betting Tips

Ross Aylward - 17 Jan 2008

La Cantera Golf Club, San Antonio, TX
Course Par Value: 70
Course Yardage: 6,896

Like all par-70 tracks, La Cantera requires accurate positioning of the ball rather than length off the tee. The course has over 70 bunkers with water in play on several holes. The Bermuda grass greens are large, fast and undulating. The signature holes are the 7th, which requires a tee shot from a cliff down to the fairway, and the 12th, which has a ravine that runs along the front of the green. The easy par-5’s are the 1st and 4th. Wind is normally a factor, but scoring is still pretty low.

The course has been host to the Valero Texas Open since 1995.

Golf Betting Pro Notes: Texans and Texas residents do well in this event which often turns into a putting contest. there’s no advantage for long hitters.
