PGA National Resort & Spa, Palm Beach Gardens, FL Course Par Value: 70 Course Yardage: 7,048
The course was originally designed by Tom Fazio in 1981, but was reconfigured in 1990 by Jack Nicklaus, who still lives close to the course. The biggest change was to the greens which are now Bermuda grass and downright flat in comparison with the old ones.
The closing five holes are particularly challenging, with water coming into play on the 15th, 16th and 17th - a stretch of holes known as “The Bear Trap”. The 18th is a 556 yard par-5, a superb finishing hole.
In 2007, the course became the eighth different venue for the Honda Classic since it switched from being the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic back in 1982.
Golf Betting Pro Notes: Home advantage is something to consider as the Bermuda greens are unfamiliar to those who have been playing on the ‘West Coast Swing’, so look to back Florida residents here.
