Lots of bunkers and occasional water hazards are the distinctive feature of this desert course. The most difficult part is around the turn, but the closing stretch requires nerves of steel. The infamous 16th is a tricky par 3, made more challenging by the raucous crowd which surround the hole. Still, low rounds are common.
The TPC of Scottsdale is home to ‘The Phoenix’, now the FBR Open thanks to its first title sponsor. It’s a regular occurrence for over half a million spectators to turn up over the four days.
