Fredrik Jacobson will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut.
On a marathon day when a number of players were forced to complete both their second and third rounds, it was the Swede who eventually came out on top after a third-round 63 that improved him to 16-under, just ahead of American Bryce Molder.
Jacobson, who is still searching for a maiden title on the PGA Tour, has been in good form at TPC River Highlands this week, making 34 of 42 fairways and needing just 77 putts. And he edged in fron with a third bogey-free round of the tournament, shooting seven birdies in a seven-under-par round.
Molder leads the chase after shooting a six-under 64 that moved him to 15-under, and he has a two-shot lead over James Driscoll, with Ryan Moore, John Rollins, Blake Adams, Andres Romero, Webb Simpson and Nick Watney a further shot back.
American amateur Patrick Cantlay wrote the headlines on Friday with a superb second-round 60 to claim the clubhouse lead, but he came back down to earth with a bump just 24 hours later as four bogeys wiped out two birdies as he finished two-over, slipping to 11-under through 54 holes.
