Westin Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead), Palm Harbor, FL
Course Par Value: 71
Course Yardage: 7,295
Copperhead has undulating fairways, tall pine trees, and nightmare to read greens. The latter keep the scores higher than on other resort courses although, like most resort courses, there’s no great premium on driving accuracy, which suits the long hitters. The signature (and hardest) hole is the 16th, a 458-yard par 4, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg fairway and around a lake. Unusually, there are five par-3’s.
The impressive Copperhead course was host to the PODS Championship in 2007. The tournament began life as the Tampa Bay Classic in 2000, before Chrysler became the title sponsor in 2003. Last year’s Chrysler Classic, played a week before November’s Tour Championship, moved to its new March slot this year with a different sponsor.
Golf Betting Pro Notes: While length off the tee is an advantage here, this is more of a 2nd-shot track than other resort courses, so look to back players who are high up in the GIR (greens in regulation) stats.
