Wyndham Championship first round scores - Carl Pettersson leads again

Carl Pettersson, tied third behind Rory McIlroy in the US PGA Championship, claimed the first-round lead for the second consecutive tournament at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina.

The in-form Swede had opened with a 66 at Kiawah Island and went four better in Greensboro, his eight-under-par 62 enough for a one-stroke advantage over Tim Clark of South Africa and David Mathis.

Pettersson holds the course record at Sedgefield Country Club, which he set in 2008, and failed by just one shot to equal it. He lives in nearby Raleigh and is a member of the club.

Winner of the Heritage tournament in April, the 34-year-old has had five top-10 finishes this year and is now the 7/2 favourite with Paddy Power to go into the FedEx Cup play-offs on the back of another victory.

Clark, who had an eagle and five birdies, is the 7/1 second favourite with Sky Bet, while defending champion Webb Simpson is 11/1 after a four-under-par round that leaves him four back.
